Botanical descriptions :

Habit : Small trees.
Branchlets : Young branchlets terete, glabrous.
Leaves : Leaves simple, alternate, spiral; petiole 0.4-1 cm long, canaliculate in cross section, glabrous; lamina 3-6 x 2-3.5 cm, elliptic, apex acute to obtuse, base attenuate, margin serrate and recurved, coriaceous, glabrous; midrib canaliculate above; secondary nerves ca. 7 pairs, looped near margin; tertiary_nerves obliquely percurrent.
Flowers : Inflorescence axillary short racemes, ca. 2.5 cm long; pedicel 0.2 cm long.
Fruit& seed : Drupe, ovoid.

Ecology :

Understorey trees in high elevation evergreen forests between 2200 and 2400 m.

Distribution :

Endemic to the Western_Ghats- Nilgiris.
