Botanical descriptions :

Habit : Small trees up to 5 m tall.
Trunk & Bark : Bark brownish, smooth.
Branches and branchlets : Branchlets terete, glabrous, lenticellate.
Leaves : Leaves simple, alternate, distichous; petiole 0.3-0.4 cm long, canaliculate, glabrous; lamina 6-8 x 3-4, elliptic to ovate -elliptic, apex acuminate and twisted, base acute, margin entire, glabrous beneath; midrib raised above; secondary_nerves ca. 6 pairs, domatia present at axils; tertiary_nerves broadly reticulate to obscure.
Inflorescence / Flower : Flowers solitary, axillary.
Fruit and Seed : Cluster of 1-seeded ovoid berries.

Ecology :

Understorey trees in dry evergreen forests ca. 300 m.

Distribution :

South India and Sri Lanka; in the Western_Ghats- Agasthyamalai.
