Botanical descriptions :

Habit : Trees ca.6 m tall.
Branches and Branchlets : Young branchlets flat, lenticellate, sparsely stellately brown - puberulous when young.
Leaves : Leaves simple with opposite, decussate, pairs unequal; stipules caducous, leaving scar; petiole up to 5 cm long, terete, resinous yellow glandular, a pair of glands at the junction of lamina beneath; lamina up to 27 x12 cm, lanceolate to elliptic, apex long acuminate, base obtuse or rounded, distantly and irregularly sinuately dentate, resinous yellow glandular beneath; midrib raised above; secondary_nerves about 15 pairs; tertiary_nerves obliquely_percurrent.
Inflorescence / Flower : Flowers unisexual; inflorescence mostly terminal or axillary, rusty tomentose; male flowers pale green.
Fruit and Seed : Capsule, prominently echinate, brown, resinous yellow glandular; seeds 1 per lobe.

Ecology :

Understorey trees in high elevation evergreen forests between 1350 and 1800 m.

Distribution :

Endemic to the Western_Ghats- Nilgiri Hills.
