Botanical descriptions :

Habit : Large shrubs to small trees, 3-5 m tall.
Branches and Branchlets : Branchlets glabrous.
Leaves : Leaves simple, alternate, distichous; petiole 0.5-1.0 cm long, minutely pubescent when young, canaliculate; lamina 10-23 x 3.5-7.5 cm, varies from elliptic-oblong to oblanceolate, apex gradually acuminate, base acute to cuneate, margin undulate, glabrous, secondary_nerves 8-15 pairs, looped, intersecondary portion of lamina bulged above, tertiary_nerves broadly reticulate.
Inflorescence / Flower : Flowers solitary, axillary or 1 to 3 clustered on older branches, sepals reddish green, petals pale green.
Fruit and Seed : Fruits of many 1-seeded berries.

Ecology :

Understorey tree in low and medium elevation evergreen forests, up to 1100 m.

Distribution :

Endemic to Western_Ghats- South and Central Sahyadris.
