Botanical descriptions :

Diagnostic characters : Evergreen trees, branchlets glabrous. Exudate resinous. Leaves simple with domatia. Stipules absent. Flowers bisexual. Fruit a drupe.
Habit : Evergreen tree up to 20 m.
Trunk & bark : Bark brownish lenticellate.
Branches and branchlets or twigs : Branches terete or angled, glabrous.
Exudates : Exudate resinous.
Leaves : Leaves simple, alternate, spiral; 6.5-16 x 2-10 cm, elliptic, with glabrous domatia; apex acuminate, base acute to attenuate or obtuse, glabrous, margin entire.
Midrib canaliculate above; secondary veins 4-6 pairs gradually curved; tertiary veins indistinctly reticulate. Petiole canaliculate, glabrous.
Stipules absent.
Inflorescences or flowers : Inflorescences terminal panicles. Flowers bisexual.
Fruits : Fruit a drupe, ellipsoidal.

Habitat and ecology :

Rare in evergreen forest.

Distribution :

N.E. India, Burma (Myanmar), China (South), Thailand, Indochina, Laos.
